The San Diego,CA-based email threat detection and response platform provider, Edgewave, has been acquired by the Waltham, MA-based cybersecurity company GoSecure for an undisclosed sum.

Edgeware is best known for its ThreatTest service, which is used by companies to identify and respond to phishing attacks on the workforce. The platform provides pre- and post-delivery detection of email threats and automated response to mitigate phishing attacks and other email-based cybersecurity threats.

The company was one of the first to offer a managed inbox detection and response service to businesses. The company employs 65 staff, has around 100 channel partners, and more than 2,000 business customers.

GoSecure is primarily a provider of managed detection and response (MDR) services. CounterTack acquired Gosecure in June 2018, with the company rebranding as GoSecure powered by CounterTack in February this year. In addition to MDR services, the company offers a range of managed security services such as penetration testing, security audits, and threat assessments. The acquisition will allow the firm to broaden its range of services and extend its CounterTack platform.

The latest acquisition will see GoSecure gain EdgeWave’s 2,000 customer base, 100 channel partners, and the firm will also benefit from the considerable cybersecurity experience of EdgeWave’s employees.

“The combination of EdgeWave’s email security platform with GoSecure’s managed detection and response solutions provides unparalleled protection for organizations of all shapes and sizes,” explained GoSecure in a press release announcing the acquisition.

“The powerful combination of our technology, cybersecurity talent and longstanding customer base will help solidify GoSecure’s position as a leader among elite managed detection and response providers in the cybersecurity industry,” said EdgeWave CEO, Steve Kelley.

GoSecure plans to move into Edgewave’s offices in La Jolla, CA, which will become GoSecure’s new global headquarters.
