Forrester Research Inc. has named Rackspace a leader for hosted private cloud services in its Forrester Wave™: Hosted Private Cloud Services, North America Q2, 2017 report.
The Forrester Wave™ reports serve as a guide for buyers considering their options in the technology marketplace. The market research company provides insights into the major players in the software, hardware, and services market to save buyers months of time conducting their own research into the best solutions, hardware and services to purchase.
Nine cloud services providers were assessed for the Hosted Private Cloud Services Report across 33 criteria, such as strategy, market presence, and current offering. Rackspace’s OpenStack Private Cloud Offering achieved the highest marks out of all vendors for strategy and automation capabilities, achieving the highest possible score in three of the 8 criteria used to assess strategy. Rackspace also achieved the second highest score for market approach, business technology vision, service level agreements, and storage and contract agreements.
Forrester researchers explained that the company’s lengthy history in the managed hosting market has helped the firm achieve a highly visible market position, and that its current offering is strong and stands out from the competition due to the firm’s customer-centric, “Fanatical Support” strategy and “coexistence with hyperscale providers through management and migration services.”
The researchers also obtained feedback from customers as part of the evaluation, who praised the company’s superior self-service control options relative to other solutions, with many claiming the company’s offering was best-in-class.
“I believe that Rackspace’s position in this report further validates that it is the clear market leader in the OpenStack private cloud space,” said Scott Crenshaw, SVP and GM of OpenStack and Microsoft clouds at Rackspace. “In my view, our positioning is a testament to our strategy to deliver OpenStack private clouds as a service, providing self-service tools and an industry-leading 99.99 percent API uptime SLA.”
