The HIPAA-compliant hosting company HIPAA Vault has announced it has formed a new technology partnership with NeoCertified and can now offer secure, encrypted email to its customers.
HIPAA Vault provides a range of cloud services to healthcare organizations and their business associates to help them secure electronic protected health information and prevent unauthorized access. Those services include HIPAA-compliant hosting, cloud data storage, disaster recovery services, and secure FTP.
NeoCertified offers a range of secure email services to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and the confidentiality and integrity of emailed data. NeoCertified Secure Email integrates seamlessly with email solutions such as Microsoft Outlook to encrypt email data and protect against unauthorized access and tampering in transit.
Under the new partnership, the companies will extend and maintain a HIPAA compliant efficacy across both secure HIPAA compliant cloud services and secure email distribution.
When email communications containing electronic health information are sent externally, outside the protection of the corporate firewall, they could potentially be intercepted and sensitive patient data could be viewed or altered in transit. Every day around 100 billion emails are sent, and if only 1% contain sensitive data, that means 1 billion emails could be intercepted and data could be stolen or misused. To comply with HIPAA and safeguard emailed data, email messages must be protected with end to end encryption.
“Adding HIPAA Compliant Email to our product portfolio has been a key piece of our growth strategy and we are excited to work with NeoCertified on this,” said Gil Vidals, Founder & CEO of HIPAA Vault. By combining managed, HIPAA-compliant hosting with secure, HIPAA-compliant email, the cost of ownership can be reduced for clients that need to protect ePHI in transit and at rest in order to comply with the HIPAA Rules.
“This partnership will not only expedite and protect HIPAA related communication processes, ensuring HIPAA regulation compliance, but this will also encourage and catalyze future cloud-based HIPAA compliant integrated services,” said Peter J. Schaub, Owner & CEO of NeoCertified.
