Liquid Web, a provider of managed hosting services to web professionals and SMBs, has undergone a third-party audit and has demonstrated its dedicated and cloud dedicated solutions are compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Rules and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act requirements.

The audit was performed by the independent accounting firm UHY LLP, which validated Liquid Web’s dedicated and cloud dedicated solutions and its policies, procedures, and practices as meeting the minimum standards outlined in the Privacy and Security Rules of HIPAA and the requirements of the HITECH Act.

Liquid Web has implemented administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information (ePHI) that is collected, stored, processed, or transmitted by its healthcare clients through its cloud solutions.

As a cloud service provider, Liquid Web is classed as a business associate under HIPAA. Business associates of HIPAA-covered entities must provide reasonable assurances to covered entities that they are in compliance with the provisions of the HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules.  The independent third-party audit, along with the business associate agreements the company is wiling to sign, provide these assurances and demonstrate to prospective clients that the company will protect customers’ data to the highest standards.

“Completing this rigorous audit gives our customers confidence that we are meeting their needs for a compliant solutions provider,” said Liquid Web Chief Operating Officer, Carrie Wheeler. “With an increase of growing threats online, and an increase on HIPAA violation fines and fees, maintaining this compliance ensures Liquid Web’s policies and procedures are appropriate and followed to not only meet but exceed government guidelines.”

In addition to demonstrating compliance with HIPAA/HITECH Act requirements, Liquid Web has also recently completed and passed its EU- US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield audit, and attestations for SOC 1, 2, 3.
