Compliancy Group Confirms Halifax County Public Health System is HIPAA Compliant

Halifax County Public Health System has undergone an assessment with Compliancy Group and has demonstrated its good faith effort towards HIPAA compliance.

Halifax County Public Health System (HCPHS) is part of the North Carolina Public Health statewide system and is committed to providing the highest quality healthcare services to the residents of Halifax County. HCPHS provides a range of services in Halifax County that require access to sensitive information, such as child health, communicable disease, environmental health, health education, family planning, immunization, maternal health, vital records, and WIC.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires healthcare providers and business associates to implement policies and procedures to ensure the privacy of individuals is protected and safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information.

HCPHS partnered with Compliancy Group to ensure that no aspect of HIPAA compliance had been overlooked. HCPHS adopted Compliancy Group’s proprietary HIPAA compliance process which guides organizations in their journey towards HIPAA compliance. That journey is tracked using Compliancy Group’s proprietary HIPAA compliance tracking software– The Guard.

After completing that process, which includes conducting a comprehensive, organization-wide risk assessment and remediation program, HCPHS’s good faith effort towards HIPAA compliance was assessed by Compliancy Group’s HIPAA subject matter experts and HCPHS was confirmed as compliant with the HIPAA Privacy, Security, Omnibus, and Breach Notification Rules and the requirements of the HITECH Act.

After confirming HIPAA compliance, Compliancy Group awarded HCPHS the HIPAA Seal of Compliance, which demonstrates to the people of Halifax County that HCPHS is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of healthcare data in its mission to educate, protect, serve, and support the community through the provision of quality health care and environmental health services.
