Our ultimate ambition for this website is for it to become the number one resource on all matters relating to HIPAA and be the first location healthcare professionals look to obtain the information they need to protect the privacy of patients and avoid causing HIPAA violations. Our short term aims include making the HIPAA Journal the most comprehensive resource available anywhere on HIPAA regulations.
To assist HIPAA-covered entities achieve – and maintain – compliance with state and federal regulations governing the use, storage and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII), we have compiled a comprehensive HIPAA Compliance Guide. This guide will be the first of a number of compliance and best practice guides that we will be issuing over the coming weeks.
We are committed to reporting healthcare and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act news when the stories break, ensuring our visitors obtain the latest information on regulatory changes, data breaches and other HIPAA matters.

PJ Murray has held technical product manager positions in a number of blue-chip companies, including Ericsson, where he was responsible for launching new products. PJ has been involved with many successful software start-ups, including co-founding CodeFutures in 2004, taking on software management roles encompassing all technical aspects of corporate websites. PJ holds degrees in engineering and mathematics from Trinity College, Dublin.
James Burrage, Web Developer
James Burrage is responsible for coding and testing the HIPAA Journal website. James works closely with the editorial team to ensure content is presented correctly to site visitors. He is responsible for cross-browser support and developing the website to display on as many mobile devices as possible. He performs regular performance testing and is responsible for ensuring the site remains secure for users. He also performs regular security updates on the servers and software systems. James has gained a well-deserved reputation for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Shane Greene, Graphic Designer
Shane Green is a graphic designer who handles the design elements of the HIPAA Journal website. Shane has endeavored to give HIPAA Journal a distinct visual feel to differentiate the website from other healthcare industry sites and present content in a clear, easy to read and visually appealing format.
