Medical Management Resource Group (American Vision Partners) Breach Affects 2.35M Patients

Medical Management Resource Group, LLC (MMRG), doing business as American Vision Partners, has recently confirmed in a notification to the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights that the protected health information of 2,350,236 individuals was compromised in a hacking incident. MMRG detected unauthorized activity within its network on November 14, 2023, and took immediate action to contain the threat. A third-party cybersecurity firm was engaged to investigate the breach and determine the nature and scope of the unauthorized activity, and on or around December 6, 2023, MMRG confirmed that there had been unauthorized access to its network, and the removal of files containing patient data.

Those files contained information such as names, contact information, dates of birth, medical information such as the services received, clinical records, and medications, and for some individuals, Social Security numbers and health insurance information. MMRG is in the process of notifying the affected individuals and has offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services to the affected individuals.

Prime Healthcare Employee Health Plan Members Affected by Data Breach at Business Associate

Prime Healthcare has recently confirmed that the protected health information of 101,135 individuals was compromised in a cyberattack on its business associate, Keenan & Associates, the administrator of its employee benefit health plan. Keenan & Associates detected the breach in late August 2023 and confirmed that its network had been accessed by an unauthorized third party between August 21, 2023, and August 27, 2023.

Prime Healthcare was notified about the breach by Keenan & Associates in December 2023. The compromised information includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, driver’s license numbers, health insurance information, and health information, such as diagnosis and treatment information. Keenan & Associates is offering the affected individuals complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for 24 months.

AGC Flat Glass North America Reports Breach of Welfare Benefits Plan Data

AGC Flat Glass North America, Inc. has recently announced that it has fallen victim to a hacking incident that disrupted production and shipments. The cyberattack was detected on December 15, 2023, and is still being investigated; however, it has been confirmed that the hackers gained access to parts of its system containing the data of members of its Welfare Benefits Plan between December 12, 2023, and December 17, 2023.

The compromised data includes names, Social Security numbers, Driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, financial account information, and health insurance plan enrollment information. The breach was reported to the Maine Attorney General as affecting 20,415 individuals, with the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights breach report confirming that the protected health information of 13,079 Welfare Benefits Plan members was compromised.
